Established in September 1994, 2CR was the first Chinese radio station in Australia to broadcast 24 hours a day and received immense support from the Chinese community. Today, we have proudly heading into the 21st year of broadcasting service. Listeners can tune to 2CR via our special radio receiver, online and even in smart phone apps. In June 1995, we extended our broadcast to Melbourne. Our popularity stems from our wide range of programs, working with popular DJs, immense involvement with the local community and a great understanding and concern of the benefit of our audiences.
Programs on 2CR China Radio Network retain a high proportion of local content providing succinctly relevant information to our listeners in Australia. In addition, 2CR supplements its locally produced programs with various serial programs, dramas, and news from Hong Kong, Macao and China. Our programs cater for all ages. Programs in our highly varied line up include topics such as cooking, health, leisure, lifestyle, gardening, current affairs, music, interviews and sports & recreation. Live international programming is also created through the link up with BBC international news, Voice of America and RTHK (Hong Kong PBS).
2CR’s most exciting highlights have been its regular one-month-broadcast on FM 91.6 frequency during Chinese New Year and Mid-Autumn Festival. Since our first such broadcast in February 1998, listeners were able to enjoy a Chinese radio station 24-hours a day for 2 months on the FM frequency in Sydney. 2CR immediately received an overwhelming response, further expanding our number of audiences.
Here in 2CR, we are consistently striving to improve the quality of our services. The station looks forward to continuing its informative entertainment service to all Chinese speaking people with the objective of promoting social harmony within the Chinese community.
